1 Book 1 School - PCES is reading Charlotte's Web - Chapters 6-8 Chapter 6 E.B. White takes the time to give details about the different bird calls that Wilbur can hear. An idea for learning at home might be to research what sound birds from our area make. Check out this website from Cornell Lab of Ornithology for an extensive catalog of bird calls. https://www.birds.cornell.edu/home/all-about-birds/ Chickadee? Blue Jay? Eagle? Which of these birds has the loudest call? What do you think of Templeton and how he lives? Chapter 7 is a good time to talk about “life on a farm”. Where does hamburger and steak come from? Where does a pork chop or bacon come from? What about chicken thighs? Milk? In Chapter 8, Mr. Arable tells his wife,”Maybe our ears aren’t as sharp as Fern’s.” What do you think he means?
