Luke Knowlton, PA-C from Northern Light, Sangerville, will be doing sports physicals at no cost on Friday, March 4th. These are offered to all students, fifth grade and up.
Our sports policy requires a current physical to be on file within the past two years in order to participate at the school level. Mr. Gallant has access to the updated physical list. The next physical won't be offered at school until AFTER the Fall season, so if your student is due to expire between now and October 31st, that will be reflected on the master list.
If your child gets a well-child check between now and the end of August, please have the PCP fax a copy (or a clearance note) to Mrs Viera at 876-4291. It is best to have your student hand them in at the office instead of giving them to coaches; it often takes days or weeks to make it to her desk for final review/clearance.

If your child is in the pooled testing program and has recently tested positive for Covid, and you haven't notified Mrs. Viera, please do so so that she can remove him/her from the pool for 90 days. A small amount of the virus may be present in the nostrils for up to 90 days and trigger a "false" positive on the PCR test. This would cause unnecessary swabbing of pooled participants twice weekly if no positive is found by rapid antigen test. Thank you.
Mrs. Viera

Remote Learning Instructions and Information for PCSS - Week of 1/24-1/28
Thank you for you continued patience as we manage your child’s education during this crazy pandemic. This remote learning period is certainly throwing a curve ball at us, since it is happening at the end of the semester. After meeting with the PCSS staff this morning we have the following strategies to assist with your child being successful for the second quarter and first semester.
High School
This week students need to complete assignments in Google Classroom for their classes as they did last week. Some teachers may assign additional work and some may not. This depends on what students were working on when we went remote i.e. projects due or assessments that needed to be completed.
The end of the semester will be moved to February 1st. This will allow for two in-person days for students before the end of the quarter happens. Keep in mind all work for the semester needs to be complete and turned in by February 1st in order to be considered for Honor roll and Senior Privileges.
Any student who needs to come in-person this week to meet with a teacher may make those arrangements with their teacher. Please know that we will be screening for symptoms at the door.
Teachers will still have virtual office hours from 1-2:00 pm every day via Google Meets.
Teachers may send home specific requests for students to come in person at certain times. (It is possible for two teachers to request a student at the same time). Again, we will screen for symptoms at the door and we will help organize the student on who they should see and when.
If a student wants to be in-person or a student is requested to be in-person and they do not have a ride, Mr. Keane will pick them up with the school van.
Students that are complete with all work can ask for extension assignment(s) from their teacher this week. These assignments are considered extra credit.
Lunch can be picked up at the school (if it was not delivered) and a student can get a bag lunch if they are in-person.
If a student does not complete the assignments for the quarter an INC will be entered for the quarter and semester grade. Incompletes can be made up until the SNOW academy during February break. After that the quarter and/or semester grade stands and a student who is failing or incomplete will need to repeat the class.
Middle School
Middle school students need to tune into their classes remotely all week via Google Meets. They should follow the class schedule they normally have and use the classroom links provided by their teachers. There are no specials this week, no need to tune into those classes.
The end of the quarter will be moved to February 1st. This will allow for two in-person days for students before the end of the quarter happens. Keep in mind all work for the quarter needs to be complete and turned in by February 1st in order to be considered for Honor Roll.
Teachers may send home specific requests for students to come in person at certain times. (It is possible for two teachers to request a student at the same time). We will screen for symptoms at the door and we will help organize the student on who they should see and when.
If a student is asked by a teacher to be in-person and they do not have a ride, Mr. Keane will pick them up with the school van. Just call the main office to request that.
Lunch can be picked up at the school (if it was not delivered) and a student can get a bag lunch if they are in-person. Just call the school to order a lunch to be picked up.
Students are REQUIRED to complete all assignments that are in their Google Classrooms. If they do not complete these assignments an INC will be entered for the quarter grade. Incompletes can be made up until the SNOW academy during February Break. After that the grade stands for that student who is failing or incomplete.
TCTC
TCTC student have the option to attend in person or to attend online. We are not providing a bus, but if a TCTC student really wants to attend in person and they do not have a ride, they can let call the office and we can arrange for a ride.

Best of Luck to all the teams this week!

Thank you to all the parents that were able to get your student to the school on Friday after receiving notification that your student's pool was positive. We captured 13 positive cases that were picked up with the follow-up rapid test! Your attention and diligence helped minimize the spread within the community.
-Mrs. Viera

Good morning. In light of the surge in covid case within the district, Mrs. MacFadyen and I have discussed possible changes to the new guidelines that may help slow the spread.
We will go back to doing an "extended quarantine" period for students who have a positive within their home. What this will look like is, if child A is positive, child B will quarantine at home for child A's five days of isolation PLUS an additional five days, being cleared to return on day eleven IF no symptoms have developed. (The same holds true if the in-home person is a parent).
I am seeing delayed positive cases within families. With the new pooled testing guidelines allowing students to continue to attend even with a positive in the home, this is affecting more students than anticipated.
I don't think we (as a community/society) will be able to get ahead of this at this point, but if we can do things to slow the spread within the school/community and allow the best opportunity to keep kids in school, we will.
As always, feel free to email me with questions: wviera@sad4.org (I'm not on Facebook regularly so questions here probably won't be answered in a timely manner).

More detailed information regarding next week's remote learning plan for PCSS will be emailed and robo-called on Monday Morning.

Tough 2 point loss for our Boys Middle School basketball team in the Semi final game at Hichborn yesterday. A great season even though they came up short. The future is bright and best of luck to the 8th graders as they enter high school next year.
