Because of a bus returning late from a field trip, our bus dismissal will be running about 10 to 15 minutes late today (10/11). Walkers and Pick-up students will be dismissed at the normal time.

This weeks athletic events.

COVID reminder: If your child has a Covid test pending from a provider's office, hospital, Walgreens, etc, he/she may not attend school until those results are in. Please notify the front office and they will be marked accordingly.

Good afternoon. I am working on securing a date for our flu clinic. I will be sending an email out to those of you who have signed your student up to receive the flu shot. If things have changed, and you no longer want your student to receive it, please email to let me know. If your student already received it at his/her PCP, please let me know as well. If you WANT your child to receive it but didn't fill out the paperwork, let me know and I'll send the information home.
If you receive the form back, it is because it is missing needed information, such as checking the box that "gives permission" or the line that says "flu" vaccine is blank. Please return these to each office as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Mrs. V

All 7th graders require a Meningitis and Tdap vaccination. All 12th graders require a second dose of Meningitis (or one if their first dose is after 16 years-of-age). I did not run the proper report in August, so some of you with 7th/12th graders will be getting a letter indicating that your child is "noncompliant" with their vaccinations. Please have your PCP send over a fax as soon as he/she receives the updated vaccines. 876-4291
Thank you,
Mrs. Viera

Field trip correction: 6th graders are NOT going anywhere on 9/26. They are going out on 10/3. 8th graders and a HS class have field trips on 9/26.

INHALER REMINDER:
This is just a reminder that if your student carries an inhaler and is going on a field trip, it is his/her (your) responsibility to make sure he/she has it with him/her. 6th graders and 8th graders are going on a field trip Monday, 9/26. If an inhaler is needed while off campus, it is a call to 911.
I have sent home medication forms for the elementary students and am working through the high school students. Even self-carrying inhaler users must have a permission form signed by you and the PCP. If you sign the form and write the PCPs name on the back, I'll fax it to get the rest of the information.

The middle school soccer games at Mt. Jefferson have been postponed to next Tuesday September 27th.

There is a Project Graduation meeting in the PCSS cafeteria for Seniors and their parents this Thursday September 22 at 6:30 pm

Note from the nurse:
The year has started off as a typical year in my office...snotty noses, coughs, sore throats. This is a standard thing in my world as immune systems re-acclimate to being around germs.
I just want to remind parents, that if your child is exhibiting viral/cold symptoms, in place of pooled testing and "test to stay" this year, we are asking parents to keep students home for at least 24 hours after symptoms start. It is recommended to test at the onset of symptoms. If symptoms aren't improving (without medication) after 24 hours, he/she should stay home until they are.
If your child needs medication to make it through the day, he/she should stay home to rest. (This includes Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or cold/cough medicine).
Thank you for your help in helping us transition back into "normal" after these past two years of strict Covid guidelines!

INHALERS/NEBULIZERS:
This is a reminder (especially at the elementary school) to please send in a spare inhaler, or nebulizer ampules (in a prescription labeled box) to keep at school. Tis the season for asthmatic flareups, and if your child needs medication and it's not here, I call you as well as an ambulance to see who can get it to the school the fastest. Respiratory distress is the number one cause of cardiac arrest in children, according to the American Heart Association. (I am working through the health forms and will send a medication form home if you indicated he/she uses one. Even those who self-carry need a med form on hand).

There will be a Band and Art Booster Meeting Monday, Sep. 26th at 6pm in the band room. Let get out there and support the ARTS!!

The PCSS Senior Project Grad Meeting scheduled for tomorrow night September 15 at 6:30 has been cancelled. Stay tuned for the next meeting!

There will be a Project Grad meeting for Seniors and their parents on Thursday Night at 6:30 pm, September 15, in the PCSS cafeteria.

Our dental hygienist will be in starting next week to offer dental cleanings, screenings and flouride for those who have signed up.
This is a reminder (especially for the high school since forms went out late) to return your health packets, including the health form, over-the-counter medication form, dental forms, flu vaccine and Binax testing permission forms.
This year, if a signed form is NOT on file with the school, I will not be calling to get parental permission to administer Tylenol.
Mrs. Viera

Tuesday night from 5:00-6:30, PCES will have Open House for grades 1-6. (Pre-K and K hosted their visits before school began.) We hope to see you there!

On Thursday September 15 at 6:00 pm we will have an open house. This is a great chance for you to come and meet your child's teachers. We will all be meeting in the Gym so that you can meet the new Assistant Principal to start and then going out and meeting the teachers. See you then!!

There are several field trips coming up. Please make sure to send your child with his/her inhaler if it’s not already at the school. If it is needed while off campus and not available, it is an ambulance call.
