At our recent Veterans Day assembly, the featured speaker was veteran Christy Gardner from Oxford, Maine. She lost her legs in the Afghanistan war and has since overcome huge challenges in life to be a para Olympian gold medalist in a number of sports. Currently she owns and operates MISSION WORKING DOGS. This non profit trains therapy dogs for use with PTSD patients , especially combat veterans. Pictured below are three of her dogs that she brought with her. Christy did this speaking engagement not expecting a thing in return, but when asked if there was something SAD4 could do to repay her kindness, she indicated that donating items for her dogs would be incredibly helpful. She shared an Amazon wishlist with various items. At the assembly the students and staff were challenged with raising enough money to purchase 1000 items from her wishlist. Any student, staff member, parent, or community member can bring in cash or
a check to the school and we will begin the process of getting to the 1000 item mark. We have already had two hundred dollars donated. Thanks for your help with this!!
