Every year the PVC hosts the Joe Paul Scholarship Banquet, where four Senior scholar athletes from each school in the Penobscot Valley Conference are honored for their excellence in academics and athletics. Molly Goodwin, Ava Goulette, Noah Kain, and Brady Gaw were chosen to represent PCHS at this year's banquet.

This group of 4 has an average GPA of 3.92, worked 500+ hours of community service, earned 75+ college credits, and at the conclusion of this year, including the dual sport seasons, they will have accounted for a combined 57 seasons of high school sports. They have stood on many podiums, raised championship trophies, and collected many All Conference and All State honors.

All of the scholar athletes attending the banquet had their names entered into a drawing for $1000 cash scholarships. 6 boys and 6 girls are drawn, and are honored by having their profile of athletic, academic and personal accomplishments read at the banquet. Ava Goulette was one of the 6 girls drawn this year.

We would like to thank the PVC and the Paul family for their continued support, and we would like to congratulate all of the scholar athletes present today. We would like to thank Molly, Ava, Noah and Brady for the examples you have set during your time at PCHS. We wish you all the best as you head into your final season of high school athletics and prepare to graduate.

NOAH KAIN RECEIVES MPA PRINCIPAL’S AWARD
Piscataquis Community High School senior Noah Kain of Parkman has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award, Principal Lee Pearsall announced today. He is the son of Brian and Amanda Kain. The award sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.
Principal Lee Pearsall shared the following.
“Noah is a leader both on and off the fields of Piscataquis Community High School. He leads with confidence and by example. Noah balances multiple varsity sports, honors and college-level coursework, and a job outside of school, all while maintaining the high standards he sets for himself. Even in his senior year, Noah has not slowed down; he has maintained his commitment to academics, athletics, and school citizenship, continuing to push himself straight through to the finish line. This year, he also chose to take part in a senior capstone project aimed at creating meaningful change in how athletics are represented at the school board level.
What distinguishes Noah is his character. Kindness is not something he performs when others are watching; it is something he lives every day. He takes time to speak with middle school students about sportsmanship, greets both students and staff with respect in the hallways, spends time tutoring younger high schoolers - including helping a freshman adjust to the academic rigors of high school - and consistently treats others with dignity. I recently read a reflection written by a classmate who shared that Noah was kind to him when others were not, helping bridge the gap toward acceptance. To be recognized in that way by a classmate says more about Noah than any list of accomplishments ever could.”
Noah and Mrs. Pearsall will attend an Honors Luncheon with other award recipients and their principals at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer on April 11. This event recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten - $1000 scholarships in the names of former principals and the MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.

Pi Day comes early at PCSS!
On Thursday morning, the entire 7/8 student body participated in several events and activities based around Pi Day which takes place annually on March 14th. Students competed in a bracket-style competition where teams of students participated in short challenges throughout the day. The goal was to build excitement around math, encourage positive competition, and create a high-energy, structured event that students would remember. The day also included a Pi Recital where students got to showcase how many digits of Pi they had memorized.

Congratulations to our top 6 competitors:
Tied for fourth place: Xandz Rioux, Aurora Schubert, and Owen Boyce with 19 digits of Pi
3rd Place: Colton York with 28 digits of Pi
2nd Place: Dante Fleming with 47 digits of Pi
1st Place: Isaiah Mcfarland with 53 digits of Pi

A special shout out to the 7/8 team of teachers for taking a Pi to the Face at the end of the day!

Today in Ms. Cochrane-Cahill's Maine Forest Collaborative Class, the students utilized snowshoes to trek through the snow covered property. The students used GPS devices to find the coordinates of the maple trees that are tapped for the middle school MFC class. The high school MFC class will be utilizing the snowshoes again on a later date to create advertisements for local outdoor recreation, in an effort to draw more tourism to the area.
