Good Evening, this is Kelly MacFadyen, superintendent of MSAD #4. We are following the recommendation made by our Commissioner of Education, which was supported by the Governor to replace classroom instruction with remote learning for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We will continue to provide remote learning until June 9th unless the Governor declares it is safe to return to on-site learning. If that were to happen we would consider returning so that students and staff could have closure for this academic year. Please view our website for more details and on-going updates as we navigate through is difficult time. Spring is here, and I miss seeing the students practicing and playing sports from my office window. But we are all committed to staying healthy so we can get back to school as soon as possible. Stay home, stay connected, be safe and know that we miss you!

SAD #4 Families: There will be a few changes to our food program effective April 6th. They are as follows: *Vehicles will leave the campus with food at 9am and will be occur on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. *We are asking that families put a tote or cooler at the end of their driveway for food to be placed into. If a box is not available, bags will be dropped off at the end of the driveway. Buses will honk when food has been dropped off. This will allow us to continue to support our community with food for as long as possible while also decreasing possible exposure to the coronavirus within our community. As circumstances change we will continue to make adjustments to our food program as appropriate. Thank you for your support and stay healthy!

A message from Erica Strout - SAD 4 Occupational Therapist I wanted to let you know that I have found a really great "Virtual OTs" youtube channel that a couple of OTs that I've worked with and also gone to college with have made and shared. The link is below. There are some really great activities and strategies that parents can use with their children to work on a variety of skills with supplies that they may have already around their home. And if parents would like to reach out to me with any questions about their child's OT needs during the school closure, they can email me at estrout@sad4.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwt_1NF8j0bG7N_yA4iLDsw?fbclid=IwAR3rNB82-5PZey652PNyxoxUSV5A9wc9by-lKGUSCOGT7_C3dxWI0uyIBJc

I rode the bus today and was so impressed with our bus drivers. They know all of our students and it is obvious how much they care.

Essential Staff
March 26, 2020 Dear Families, I hope all of you are well and are finding ways to take care of yourselves, whether it is going for a walk, trying a new recipe or craft, or reading a book/magazine. For me, I love joining the teachers’ Google Classrooms and seeing student comments and work. I even called one student to share my excitement about what she created! Tomorrow, Friday the 27th, the big yellow busses will be rolling, and members of the administrative team will be riding them to deliver new packets, supplies and/or materials. Also, volunteers will be riding the busses to deliver food for the weekend. The busses should arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. If the bus cannot get down your road, we will try to call 10 minutes ahead and plan to meet you. The last bag of school materials was tied at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, so to follow the 72-hour guideline, wait until 2:30 p.m. Friday before opening your treasure. When work is completed, you may bring it to school and put it in the barrel, which is tied to the front door. However, do NOT return math books, because they are needed to continue learning. Each day, we pull the bag from the barrel, tie it, and set it aside for the required 72 hours. Then, the work is sorted and the teacher notified. The teacher will pickup the work during school hours, as only essential staff has access to the building now. Because this process is inconvenient for families and creates quite a delay in informing instruction and student feedback, we are working hard to make all our assessments digital. Please let the teacher know A.S.A.P. if you do not have Internet. Help may be available in the weeks to come. Our staff has been working to identify the most essential learning in each content area and has been brainstorming ways for students to demonstrate their learning. During this process, all assessments are to inform teaching, so for now, assignments will show in PowerSchool as collected, not graded. We will still report on what students know and are able to do at the end of the trimester. We will be working on creating additional learning time for students to gain the skills that they did not demonstrate during Distance Learning. I hope everyone stays healthy! If you have questions, please call me at 876-4301. Best Wishes, Anita Wright P.C.E.S. Principal
