NOTE FROM THE NURSE:
You will be receiving some extra forms either in the mail, or in your student's take-home folder. These may seem redundant with the online portion you filled out, but they are forms specific to outside contracted service providers, such as the dental hygienist, or state-specific, such as the flu and Binax test permission.
Thank you for your attention to these forms and kindly return them to the school as soon as possible.

Covid/Sick protocol:
Welcome back to the new school year. As of now, we will be implementing the following illness protocol:
Please keep your child home for AT LEAST 24 hours with any viral symptoms, including: sore throat, fever over 100.4, new cough, loss of taste/smell, chills, body aches, runny nose/congestion (not related to allergies), vomiting or diarrhea. If, after 24 hours, symptoms are improving, and they haven't had Tylenol or Ibuprofen in those 24 hours, they may return to school. If symptoms continue, keep him/her home until you see improvement or you have a negative Covid test.
It is recommended by the CDC/DOE that you test your child for Covid with onset of the above symptoms and that your child mask until symptoms are resolved. (Each student has 6 rapid tests available for pick-up at the school).
We will not be contact tracing this year (as of now), but if you know your child has been exposed to Covid, it is recommended that he/she mask for ten days and test on day 6, or earlier if symptoms develop. If symptoms develop after exposure, please keep him/her home until a test is done and notify the school.
If your child tests positive for Covid, there is a 5 day isolation period. He/She could return as early as day 6 if symptoms are improvING and he/she has had no fever on day 5. Masking is recommended through day 10.
PLEASE call the front office if your student will be absent due to illness so we can keep track and mark them appropriately. You may or may not receive a call from the nurse to follow up.

For those of you that receive a medication form in the mail, I forgot to insert the explanation letter. Simply fill out your child's information on the top, sign the bottom and put the provider's name on the BACK. I will fax it to him/her for the rest of the information. All medications need to be delivered to the school by an adult except for inhalers, epi-pens and insulin.

Elementary School Instrument Rental Night: The David French Music Company will be coming on Thursday, September 8th at 5PM. They will have instruments, music stands, and music books available so your student doesn't have to wait for delivery. If you are unable to rent an instrument, shoot me an email at eviera@sad4.org and I'll do my best to find one that they can borrow.

Some of you received a letter in May/June indicating that your child was missing some vaccinations. I've checked the database against that list this week, and if your child is still missing immunizations, you will be getting another letter. Understand that your child will not be able to start school on 8/31 unless he/she is either up-to-date on required vaccinations, or has a verified appointment to receive those vaccinations. This is according to the law, not the school. (PCP's can fax a note verifying a scheduled vaccination appointment to 876-4291)

Good afternoon, This is Mrs. McPhail. I need to correct an error that is causing confusion from the recent mailing. The first day of school for grades pre- K through 9th is Wed. August 31st. Grades 10 through 12 will start school on Thurs. September 1st. I'm excited about starting the school year and seeing all of our students.
The Joe Gallant Celebration of Life event has been moved to the PCSS gymnasium due to predicted rain. Start time is still 7:00 pm.
Any student interested in volunteering at the Piscataquis County Fair this year should call Britney at Community fitness or email her at comfitme2003@gmail.com. High School students can use this time for required community service hours for graduation. Available times are as follows:

The School Board meeting scheduled for August 9th has been postponed until September 13th at 7:00 pm at the PCES Cafeteria.
PCSS will be hosting a Celebration of Joe Gallant's Life on August 17, 2022 at 7:00 pm on the Soccer Field. Joe spent most of his career as a teacher, coach and athletic administer right here in SAD4 and we wanted to take some time this summer to honor that dedication and keep Joe's spirit alive. We hope you can make it. We wanted to put together a short tribute video of Joe's SAD4 experiences so, if you have any video or pictures of Joe's life as an SAD4 coach, teacher, or athletic administrator please email them to jkeane@sad4.org.
